THE MIDLAND BORDER TERRIER CLUB

OPEN SHOW, ASFORDBY, 18TH FEBRUARY 2008

JUDGE JANE ROBERTS. (Smalesmouth.)

Entry: 120 Dogs making 142 entries

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of the Midland Border Terrier Club for the invitation to judge at their open show. Thanks also to my stewards Bob and Liz Wright who kept everything running so smoothly throughout the day and thanks to all exhibitors for their support. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and was delighted with my winners.

Temperament was excellent. Mouths were correct, although few exhibits demonstrated a really large set of teeth. I was looking for a good otter head, a balanced outline, narrowness through the body with a good length of ribcage. I accept that coats are transient but “on the day” evidence of a double coat and thick skin was influential when deciding place order. Movement was variable and may well be a reflection of the general fitness of some exhibits, as too many were lacking in condition and muscle tone.
