Border Terriers
Dog CC and Best of Breed Leslie & Bainbridge’s Mansergh First Proof at Risdene Bitch CC Winner Minor Puppy Dog (9, 2 ab.) : 1. Wallace’s Hobholt Harrier – light grizzle, a raw baby with a lovely outline, especially going round the ring, striding out and holding his topline well. Good head with dark eyes and keen expression, strong jaw and big teeth. Super straight front with clean, well-laid shoulders, excellent body shape of good length and narrow. Harsh coat and thick pelt; moved well. Very promising. 2. Jackson’s Clipstone Tailor – grizzle with a strong head, keen expression; very good coat and pelt. Lovely size with a good outline; slightly shorter in body than the winner. Not being very co-operative with his handler. 3. Morgan’s Badgerbeck Festive Spirit. Puppy Dog (3, 0 ab.) : 1. McPherson’s Brumberhill Bestseller – grizzle with a super otter head, dark eyes and big teeth. Lovely outline with a very good neck and topline, spannable; good coat and pelt. Hind movement was good but needs to tighten in front. A very stylish puppy. BP 2. Stockley’s Foxfactor Hornblower – grizzle with an excellent coat and pelt, strong head for age. Nice overall make and shape but bigger than the winner and hind movement could improve. 3. Hand & Sheedy’s Lutrabeck Limbo. Junior Dog (8, 1 ab.) : Three lovely free-moving dogs who all looked capable of a day’s work. 1. Lee’s Tythrop Tapas – super grizzle dog with an excellent coat and pelt. Good head with dark eyes and keen expression, big teeth and a strong jaw. Lovely neck and shoulders with a straight, narrow front, well-ribbed back and easily spanned. Superb topline, which he held on the move, good legs and feet. Moved and shown to perfection. A natural showman. CC and BOB 2. Leslie & Bainbridge’s Risdene Tapenade – grizzle with good conformation, slightly bigger than winner but narrow and spannable. Good head, excellent coat and pelt, very good underline. Tends to arch slightly when stacked but has a good topline on the move. Moved well. 3. Kiernan’s Runalong Jake. Post Graduate Dog (10, 2 ab) : 1. Leslie & Bainbridge’s Mansergh Hoast a Roast at Risdene – lovely grizzle dog with excellent movement and super outline; just right for size and easily spanned. Good head with a strong jaw and excellent mouth with big teeth. Wonderful clean shoulders and straight front, very good length of body and well angulated hindquarters; harsh coat and thick pelt. Considered for top honours but just needs a little more time. 2. Hollingsbee’s Otterwood Amex JW ShCM – grizzle with a very strong head and neat ears, good mouth; good coat and pelt, very good tail. Jackson’s Clipstone Hard Cash – dark grizzle with a good head, strong jaw and good mouth. Very good harsh coat and thick pelt; good movement with a level topline which he held on the move. Would prefer a little less of him. 3. Aspinwall’s Farmway Night Owl JW. Minor Puppy Bitch (13, 0 ab) : 1. Girling’s Benattivo Mulberry – grizzle with a very good head. Not a lot of coat but enough to feel the texture. Excellent conformation, with a balanced outline and moved really well with good drive; up to size but spannable. Hind movement good but needs to tighten in front. 3. Wallace’s Hobholt Harmony. Puppy Bitch (3, 0 ab) : Disappointing class. 1. Smith’s Thewina Angel Heart at Swangrove – red with a nice head; not a lot of coat. Moved quite well but topline could be better. 2. Gitten’s Smartstone Darling at Tregennadene – blue and tan with a very harsh coat; good neck and topline. Carries her ears a bit high and didn’t move as well as 1. 3. Wilson’s Twigglestone Babiana. Guvercin’s Badgerbeck Kinsai – lovely workmanlike bitch with a good head, strong jaw, big teeth. Superb neck and body, excellent conformation throughout. Good coat and pelt. Leslie & Bainbridge’s Mansergh First Proof at Risdene – quality grizzle in very good order, with an excellent harsh coat of good depth and thick pelt. She has a super outline with good length, clean shoulders and a very good front; narrow and spannable. Well angulated hindquarters which she used to advantage; attractive head with a strong jaw; well-boned without losing quality. Fantastic movement, really covering the ground with great drive. Could see this one doing a day’s work. CC 2. McPherson’s Ch Brumberhill Betwixt – well known dark grizzle in good condition. Harsh coat with more depth than it looks. Lovely outline when free standing, body narrow and spannable. Good head; moved very well. Res CC 3. Judge’s Port Ch Brumberhill Bumble Bee by Plushcourt. Judge : Margaret Sneddon
